The much-anticipated Commons Parking Lot and newly located Tram Station 4 officially opened on time and on budget the morning of Saturday, November 21, 2015. After a rigorous construction schedule which began July 6, the main lot is complete for member use and enjoyment at the start of Thanksgiving week!
MEMBER & GUEST SERVICES NOW AT THE COMMONS
It is important to note that Member & Guest Services are back to its original location at the Commons. This includes services for Foundation-issued cards inclusive of member and guest cards and all general inquiries. The Commons building is located at 6251 Pelican Bay Boulevard.
NORTH ENTRANCE ACCESS ONLY
Member access may only be made through the north entrance. With the re-positioning of the new tram station for member pick-up and the South Tennis Center open from its front entrance, the south parking lot will now be strictly used for construction workers, equipment and temporary access for delivery trucks. This also means that there will be no member access behind the Commons building, inclusive of bicyclists and pedestrians.
BICYCLISTS AND PEDESTRIANS ACCESSING THE SOUTH BERM
While there is no member access behind the Commons building, it is also important to note that the south berm may only be accessed along the pathway on the north side of the Commons building (via Tram Station 4 and the Butterfly Garden). Security personnel will be directing traffic in this constricted area as it is also shared with two-way tram traffic.
It is also important to note that bicyclists and pedestrians who would like to access the berm at the Commons, must stop and present their Foundation-issued cards at Tram Station #4 for scanning. All are encouraged to refrain from using any shortcuts through the landscaping to bypass security in order to gain unauthorized access. Likewise, those wishing to access the Commons or South Tennis from the berm should do so through the tram station. Bike racks are located by the Commons building, in the tram station and next to the crosswalk leading to the South Tennis Center for your convenience.
DIRECTIONAL TRAFFIC
Directional traffic remains the same in a one-way counter-clockwise fashion and appropriate speed limit and stop signs are placed accordingly.
BIKE RACKS, NEWS STANDS, WATER STATIONS AND DIGITAL DISPLAYS
Bike racks, news stands, water stations and digital displays have been relocated to the new Tram Station 4.
SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE
Shuttle bus service along Pelican Bay Boulevard remains en route from the Community Center in peak holiday times. Details will be communicated throughout season when necessary.
BRIDGE INSTALLATION CONTINUES BEHIND COMMONS BUILDING
Construction still remains behind the Commons building with the installation of the new bridge. Therefore, we will continue to communicate further developments and changes throughout the next few weeks via the website, “Today in the Bay”, digital boards and the mobile app.
